The Guerrieri Estate: a Family Farm in the Metauro Valley
In the rolling hills behind Pesaro, where the Metauro river winds towards the Adriatic Sea, you'll find the Guerrieri family estate. This is no marble-gated wine château but a genuine working farm: alongside the vineyards, the family tends olive groves and fields, and guests at the estate's agriturismo quite literally taste what the land produces — from olive oil to wine. Sustainability here isn't a marketing slogan; it's simply how things have always been done.
That versatility shows in the range. NEVINI carries sixteen Guerrieri wines: powerful reds such as Guerriero Della Terra and Guerriero Nero, fresh whites built on the local Bianchello grape, the elegant Rosa dei Venti rosé, festive sparklers like Ale and Guerrieri Spumante, and remarkable dessert wines including the cherry wine L'Amico Ciliegia and the ORO dei Guerrieri passito. From an easy-going weekday bottle to a limited-edition vintage, there is a Guerrieri wine for every occasion.
Le Marche: Italy's Undiscovered Wine Region
Le Marche sits on the east coast of central Italy, wedged between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea. It borders Tuscany and Umbria, yet has always lived in the shadow of those famous neighbours. Undeservedly so: wine from Le Marche is one of Italy's best-kept secrets — the same sun, similar hills, but fairer prices and characterful native grapes.
Sea breezes from the Adriatic coast and cool air from the mountains give the wines freshness and tension. In the north of the region, around Pesaro, Sangiovese and Montepulciano lead the reds and Bianchello the whites — exactly the grapes Guerrieri works with. Once you discover Le Marche, you start wondering why everyone isn't talking about it.
Bianchello del Metauro: the Region's White Signature
Bianchello del Metauro is the white DOC of the Metauro valley, recognised since 1969 and made from the Bianchello grape (also known as Biancame). You'll rarely encounter this grape outside this corner of northern Le Marche, and hardly any shop in the Netherlands stocks the wine. NEVINI does — and not with a single bottle, but with a whole line-up.
The entry point is the Bianchello del Metauro DOC (€8.95): crystal-clear, light and fresh, with peach, white pear and white blossom. Taste further and you'll discover how much this grape can do: Guerriero Bianco blends Bianchello with Verdicchio and matures in French oak, Biancanima ferments in cement and Italian terracotta, and the flagship Guerriero Del Mare proves that 100% Bianchello can make a serious gastronomic white. Even the Guerrieri Spumante is built on this grape. One grape, surprisingly many faces.
Straight from the Importer
NEVINI imports Guerrieri's wines directly from the family estate in Le Marche, with no middlemen. No bulk importing — just bottles we have tasted ourselves and genuinely believe in. That's how our relationship with Guerrieri began, and it's still how we work today.
Buying straight from the importer has practical advantages. All sixteen Guerrieri wines are in stock and shipped from Maastricht. We also carry formats you'll rarely find elsewhere: Guerriero Della Terra and Del Mare are available not only in standard bottles but also in half bottles, magnums and even three-litre jeroboams, on their own or in a wooden gift box. Frequently asked questions
Where does Guerrieri wine come from?
Guerrieri is a family estate in Le Marche, on the east coast of central Italy. The estate lies in the hills near Pesaro, in the valley of the Metauro river. Besides wine, the family also produces olive oil, and the estate is home to an agriturismo.
Which Guerrieri wine suits me?
If you like powerful reds, go for Guerriero Della Terra or Guerriero Nero; the Sangiovese Colli Pesaresi DOC is an approachable alternative. For a fresh white, the Bianchello del Metauro DOC and Guerriero Bianco are ideal, while Guerriero Del Mare and Biancanima are the gastronomic highlights. For festive occasions there are the Spumante (white and rosé), Ale and Leo Moscato, and for a sweet finish the cherry wine L'Amico Ciliegia or the ORO dei Guerrieri passito. Not sure? We're happy to give personal advice via WhatsApp.
What is Bianchello del Metauro?
Bianchello del Metauro is a white DOC wine from the Metauro valley in northern Le Marche, recognised since 1969. It is made from the local Bianchello grape (also called Biancame) and is light, fresh and harmonious — perfect with fish or as an aperitif. At NEVINI you'll find Guerrieri's Bianchello del Metauro DOC for €8.95, alongside several other Guerrieri wines based on the same grape.
What makes wine from Le Marche special?
Le Marche lies between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea, next to famous neighbours such as Tuscany and Umbria. Because the region is less well known, its wines often offer outstanding value for money. The climate — sea breezes, cool mountain air and plenty of sunshine — produces fresh, balanced wines from native grapes such as Bianchello, Sangiovese and Montepulciano.
How do I order Guerrieri wine in the Netherlands?
