Popular red grape varieties

In our collection you will find red wines from various grape varieties. Montepulciano from the Marche produces powerful wines with aromas of dark fruit and spices. Sangiovese, the king grape of Tuscany, yields elegant wines with beautiful acidity and cherry aromas. From Spain we bring Tempranillo and Garnacha - grapes that thrive in the warm climate of Rioja and Aragón, producing wines full of ripe fruit and soft tannins. Also Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah are represented in our range.

Red wine and food

Red wine is the perfect partner for countless dishes. Lighter red wines, such as a young Sangiovese, pair excellently with pasta in tomato sauce, pizza or grilled vegetables. Fuller red wines with more tannin and body - think of a Montepulciano or Cabernet Sauvignon - are best enjoyed with red meat, leg of lamb, game dishes or aged cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano or aged Gouda.

Serving advice

Serve red wine at the right temperature for the best tasting experience. Light red wines are best enjoyed at 14-16°C, while full-bodied red wines come into their own at 16-18°C. Take the wine out of the cooler half an hour before serving or, at room temperature, let the bottle cool down slightly. Decanting is recommended for younger, powerful red wines - this opens up the aromas and softens the tannins.
