Jacques Prieur Volnay Premier Cru Clos des Santenots Monopole 2020

Clos des Santenots is Jacques Prieur's monopole within Volnay Premier Cru. The wine is made entirely from Pinot Noir grown on a small, east-facing plot with good natural drainage. Following hand harvesting and complete destemming, the 2020 is fermented in open wooden vats. A long maturation of twenty-one months in new oak barrels follows. The producer describes dark fruit, fine spice and subtle toasted accents. Elegance is central on the palate, with soft, silky tannins and a generous fruit presence. It is a Volnay for an unhurried meal, where a spacious glass and time at the table allow its layers to emerge.
