Spanish Wine: Passion, Tradition and Terroir
Spain is the country with the largest vineyard area in the world and a wine history dating back thousands of years. From the cool, Atlantic Ocean-influenced vineyards in the north to the sun-drenched slopes of the Mediterranean coast - Spanish wines are known for their character, concentration and exceptional price-quality ratio.
Rioja - Tradition and Elegance
Rioja is undoubtedly Spain's most famous wine region. NEVINI works with two of the most respected houses: La Rioja Alta, whose Viña Arana Gran Reserva is the epitome of classic Rioja with years of barrel aging, and R. Lopez de Heredia, one of the oldest bodegas in the region, famous for their legendary Viña Tondonia. Valenciso represents the modern side with their surprising Rioja Blanco - a white wine from a region primarily known for its reds.
Ribera del Duero - Power and Depth
Along the banks of the Duero river, on the Castilian plateau, some of Spain's most concentrated red wines are born. AALTO, founded by winemaker Mariano García (former cellar master of Vega Sicilia), produces wines of exceptional depth and complexity. PSI from Dominio de Pingus, the project of Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck, combines old Tempranillo vines with biodynamic cultivation to create wines that belong to the absolute world elite.
Priorat - Mineral Intensity
The Priorat, located in the hinterland of Catalonia, is one of only two Spanish regions with the highest qualification DOCa. The steep terraces with licorella slate give the wines their characteristic minerality. Merum Priorati brings the essence of this unique terroir with Inici and Desti, while Mas Martinet delivers with the iconic Clos Martinet one of the most sought-after wines of the region. Bodegas Mas Alta adds with Artigas an accessible yet complex white wine to our Priorat offering.
