Description

Merum Priorati El Cel is a mature and opulent red wine from Porrera, the heart of Priorat in Catalonia. The blend of 35% Grenache, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Carignan and 20% Syrah comes from 25-year-old vines with an extremely low yield of just 1,500 kg per hectare.

On the nose, intense aromas of candied fruit, blackberries, figs, plums and toasted notes, with nuances of burnt sugar and dark fruit. On the palate it is full, powerful and enveloping, with a long and pleasant finish.

The grapes are hand-harvested in 20 kg boxes. Harvest begins in early September with the Syrah and ends mid-October with the Cabernet Sauvignon. Only 4,189 bottles produced. Rated 93 points by Wine Spectator. Ideal with complex dishes such as jugged hare, suckling-pig terrine or venison tenderloin with pomegranate sauce.
