La Mattonara Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2009

Zýmē La Mattonara is the absolute masterpiece of winemaker Celestino Gaspari - an Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva of legendary quality. The name 'La Mattonara' refers to the bricks ('mattoni') on which the grapes are traditionally dried for the appassimento process.

The wine is made from the best grapes of the oldest vineyards: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina. After drying, the wine ages for years in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by extensive bottle aging. The 2009 vintage is one of the most acclaimed from this house.
