Quarz Sauvignon

Quarz Sauvignon is Cantina Terlano's iconic Sauvignon Blanc from Alto Adige. The grapes grow on light, sandy loam soils over volcanic quartz porphyry at elevations between 300 and 550 metres. This distinctive terroir gives the wine its characteristic tension, depth and saline minerality.

The nose opens with mango, papaya, lime and pink grapefruit, followed by lemongrass, lemon balm, mint, green tea, gooseberry and flint. The palate is rich and juicy yet precise and energetic, with fine minerality and a powerful, lingering finish.

The grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed as whole clusters. After a slow fermentation, the wine matures on its fine lees for nine months: half in large wooden casks and half in stainless steel. Serve at 12-14°C with oysters, shellfish, salmon tartare, lobster, grilled fish, green-asparagus risotto or mature goat's cheese.
